Renewable Energies

Renewable Energies

Renewable energies have become a relevant factor in the energy sector in the last 10 years. They have developed from a niche phenomenon into a long-term alternative to fossile fuels and nuclear power. Even politics has recently discovered that the future of energy supply lies in renewable energies. The boom of wind energy in particular and the widespread use of photo-voltaic plants has led to a rapid increase in the generation of energy through natural resources in recent years.

This rise in energy generation through realisation of many projects has resulted in an escalated project financing volume. HSH Nordbank has established itself as a global no. 2 in this important future market and will continue to expand its market share in the future.

Along with the global growth in the generation of regenerative energy, companies in the wind energy, solar, bio mass and geothermic sectors have grown significantly in the past years and will continue to do so. Their growth may be ascribed to organic growth but also increasingly to acquisitions. For example, Germany saw 115 transactions in the renewable energies sector in 2005.

The trends mentioned and the resulting chances for their markets have encouraged HSH Corporate Finance to look at this sector in more detail. It is our intent to establish ourselves as your competent partner in both buy and sell mandates in the renewable energies sector.
