The shipping industry has once again demonstrated that it is very cyclical in nature – the many years of boom were suddenly followed by a dramatic fall, starting in the second half of 2008. Since then, most companies had to concentrate mainly on mitigating damages to get through the crisis.

The work of HSH Corporate Finance in the shipping industry was thus very much focussed on restructuring mandates. We identified liquidity shortcomings for our clients and designed structures how to fill these, negotiating with banks and other stakeholders. Overall, we restructured debt of an aggregated amount of over 12 billion USD in the last 24 months alone. One of our works was so successful that we won the “Restructuring Deal of the Year 2009” award from Marine Money.

Next to restructuring mandates, HSH Corporate Finance is also active as M&A advisor for sales or acquisitions. Our clients value our expertise from over 75 successful transactions – many of them in the shipping sector – and our global network.
